Diego Caverzasi ita

He likes to backflip and sometimes makes it a triple. He is a slopestyler, a dirt trickster, a doing-it-myself man and a legendary creator: meet Adventure Crew member Diego Caverzasi.

Diego, how would you describe yourself?

Oh, wow, that’s tricky! 1. I don’t like rules. 2. I try to do everything myself. 3. I love two wheels.

Let’s start with the “unruly” part…

I’m just a freedom person. I want to have the choice to decide myself what I want to do. Maybe that is why I moved into slopestyle. I’m not limited by any sort of rules or regulations and I want to push the limits. It’s up to me what tricks I do, and I can even create new ones.

Brings us to the second point: creating your own stuff.

Yes, all my projects I have always designed myself – from the beginning. That was more or less inevitable, because I won’t give up till I reach my goal. And if there is something missing, I’ll just work it out myself. There were no jumps to train near my home? I took a shovel and started digging. I do my videos, I work on bikes, I design tracks – I create my own future.

And the third point, your obsession with two wheels?

I grew up and still live close to Varese in Northern Italy near the Swiss border. I can’t even remember a time I wasn’t on a bike. I started competing in slopestyle when I was 14, made my way up to Crankworx and the FMB World Tour. Now I’m a content creator, have my tutorials, shows, and design courses – my work has evolved, but it has always been about bikes. Nothing frees my mind like a bike. And I think nothing ever will – although I know how to fly a helicopter…

What are the easiest tricks to learn that are pretty impressive?

A No Hander is quite easy to learn and it’s great feeling. It feels a bit like flying… And a backflip is pretty simple too. The airtime is not that hard to control you just need a place to learn it.

What are favourite travel destinations?

At home in Italy, I love the Dolomites, but also Tuscany, especially around Massa Marittima and Colle dell’Asietta in the mountains west of Turin. Personally, I would love to go really far up north. I’ve been to the south of Sweden and loved it, so I’m looking to roadtripping further up.
